Swine Flu

Swine influenza (also swine flu) refers to influenza caused by any virus of the family Orthomyxoviridae, that is endemic to pig (swine) populations. Pigs, also called hogs or swine. Strains endemic in swine are called swine influenza virus (SIV).

People who work with poultry and swine, especially people with intense exposures, are at risk of infection from these animals if the animals carry a strain that is also able to infect humans. SIV can mutate into a form that allows it to pass from human to human. The strain responsible for the 2009 swine flu outbreak is believed to have undergone this mutation.

What are swine flu symptoms?
Symptoms of swine flu are like regular flu symptoms and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu. But a lab test is must to tell whether it's swine flu or some other condition.

If infected by swine flu?
If you have flu symptoms, stay home, and when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. Afterward, throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands. That will help prevent your flu from spreading. If you've got flu symptoms, and you've recently been to a high-risk area like Mexico, see your doctor. If you have flu symptoms but you haven't been in a high-risk area, you can still see a doctor -- that's your call.

How does swine flu spread? Is it airborne?
The new swine flu virus apparently spreads just like regular flu. You could pick up germs directly from an infected person, or by touching an object they recently touched, and then touching your eyes, mouth, or nose, delivering their germs for your own infection. That's why you should make washing your hands a habit, even when you're not ill. The swine flu virus can become airborne if you cough or sneeze without covering your nose and mouth, sending germs into the air.

How is swine flu treated?
The new swine flu virus is sensitive to the antiviral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza. These drugs are most effective when taken within 48 hours of the start of flu symptoms. But not everyone needs those drugs; many of the first people in the U.S. with lab-confirmed swine flu recovered without treatment.

Is there a vaccine against the new swine flu virus?
No. But the CDC and the World Health Organization are already taking the first steps toward making such a vaccine. That's a lengthy process -- it takes months.

I had a flu vaccine this season. Am I protected against swine flu?
No. This season's flu vaccine wasn't made with the new swine flu virus in mind; no one saw this virus coming ahead of time. If you were vaccinated against flu last fall or winter, that vaccination will go a long way toward protecting you against certain human flu virus strains. But the new swine flu virus is a whole other problem.

How can I prevent swine flu infection?
· Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Or use an alcohol-based hand cleaner.
· Avoid close contact with sick people.
· Avoid touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.

Can I still eat pork?
Yes. You can't get swine flu by eating pork, bacon, or other foods that come from pigs.

What else should I be doing?
Keep informed of what's going on in your community. Your state and local health departments may have important information if swine flu develops in your area. Don't panic, but a little planning wouldn't hurt.

How severe is swine flu?
The severity of cases in the current swine flu outbreak has varied widely. In Mexico, there have been deaths and other severe cases. Early cases in the U.S. have been mild. But that could change. The virus itself could change, either becoming more or less dangerous. Scientists are watching closely to see which way the new swine flu virus is heading -- but health experts warn that flu viruses are notoriously hard to predict, as far as how and when they'll change.

Why has the swine flu infection been deadlier in Mexico than in the U.S.?
It is unclear why U.S. cases have been milder compared to those in Mexico. Among the first 20 reported cases in the U.S., only one patient required hospitalization and that person has fully recovered. CDC researchers are actively investigating to learn more about the differences between the cases in Mexico and those in the U.S.

How serious is the public health threat of a swine flu epidemic?
The U.S. government has declared swine flu to be a public health emergency. It remains to be seen how severe swine flu will be in the U.S. and elsewhere, but countries worldwide are monitoring the situation closely and preparing for the possibility of a pandemic. The World Health Organization has not declared swine flu to be a pandemic. The WHO wants to learn more about the virus first and see how severe it is and how deeply it takes root. But it takes more than a new virus spreading among humans to make a pandemic. The virus has to be able to spread efficiently from one person to another, and transmission has to be sustained over time. In addition, the virus has to spread geographically.

Swine Flu Vaccine Could Take 6 Months
A vaccine for the new swine flu in humans could take at least six months to manufacture and distribute widely, a British doctor said. The reason: Vaccines must be developed from the specific flu strain, tested for safety, sent to manufacturers for mass production, and then distributed around the world. By the time this is done, the first wave of a pandemic flu might already be over, said Iain Stephenson, a doctor in the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Leicester Royal Infirmary in England. Scientists do not know if the current swine flu outbreak originating in Mexico will become a pandemic. But health officials in the United States and around the world have already taken emergency steps to thwart the virus' spread out of concern it could go global in a deadlier fashion.

Universal vaccine?
Some scientists pin their hopes on a universal influenza vaccine that could protect against many or all possible future flu pandemics. So far, that has proven quite challenging, though. "A universal influenza vaccine has been talked about for years, but because influenza adapts and changes and there are different types, it's very hard to come up with components,". Another study announced this week suggests that the quest for a universal vaccine may be a step closer. Robert Belshe, director of the Saint Louis University Center for Vaccine Development, and colleagues tested a vaccine prototype called Bivalent Influenza Peptide Conjugate Vaccine (BIPCV) that treats some strains of influenza viruses A and B (swine flu is an A-type virus). The researchers found that this vaccine was well-tolerated and safe among most of the 377 adult human test subjects, and provided an immune response on par with levels that protect small animals infected with influenza from serious disease and death. "This is a significant first step in developing a universal vaccine to help protect against pandemic influenza," Belshe said. He presented his findings today at the National Foundation for Infectious Disease Conference for Vaccine Research in Baltimore.

Don't marry the person you want to live with, marry the one you cannot live without, but whatever you do, you'll regret it later.
Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?

Man: Is there any way for long life?
Dr: Get married.
Man: Will it help?
Dr: No, but then the thought of long life will never come.

All Terrain Vehicle

An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a vehicle that travels on low pressure tires, with a seat that is straddled by the operator, along with handlebars for steering control. As the name implies, it is designed to handle a wider variety of terrain than most other vehicles. Although it is a street-legal vehicle in some countries, it is not street legal within most states and provinces of Australia, the United States and Canada. By the current ANSI definition, it is intended for use by a single operator, although a change to include 2-seaters (in tandem), is under consideration.

The rider sits on and operates these vehicles like a motorcycle, but the extra wheels give more stability at slower speeds. Although typically equipped with three or four wheels, six-wheel models exist for specialized applications.

Engine sizes of ATVs currently for sale in the United States, (as of 2008 products), range from 49 to 1,000 cc (3 to 61 cu in). The CC of a ATV is determind by the capacity of the piston chamber, so if the volume of the chamber was 250 Cubic Centimetres it would be a 250cc.

Repent - And be saved

Once there was a young man in a Christian family. His parents were pious and they were regular to church and prayers. This young man was always mischief and trouble maker right from his small age. His parents felt very hard to make him straight. He was irregular to school, church and his Sunday class. His parents always receive complaints about their ward in schools and it continued to his college days as well. With so many failures to make their son straight, their only hope was Jesus. They cried, prayed and prayed.

As getting older this boy completed his college studies and got a job by the grace of God and prayers. But he never realized it’s by HIS grace he is alive and got a job. He always boasts only by his own talent and knowledge he got the job. Now he got a job and he has his own money and felt his only hindrance for his joy is parents. So he decided to move away from his parents and said to them that he can stand in his own leg.

He wanted to enjoy life with his money. His parents could do nothing and all their efforts to stop him going away from home went in vain. His parents just made a small prayer that “Oh! Lord please forgive him and please take care of him. Give him one more chance to come back. We have tried all our ways to make him straight but we failed. Now we give him in thy hands oh lord, please change him and bring him back to us. Amen”.

Now this young man is independent, with job and with an attractive salary. He started enjoying this life and filled him with all sorts of worldly lust and joy. He roam with his friends and come late night to his place. He never missed any weekend party and so on. His life was totally away from the God and even stopped speaking with his parents. He had all strange love and missed his true and eternal love.

One day he and his friends decided to go for a movie. They booked their movie tickets online and planned accordingly. This young man got ready and left his room. Since the cinema theatre was near his room, he decided to go by walk. On his way to cinemas, he saw a strange thing. He saw a cow with a wound in its back and there was a crow sitting back of the cow and poking the wound. The cow tried very hard by shaking its body and by moving its tail to get rid of this crow, but it made no difference to crow. It was still in the back of cow and poking. This young also did some efforts to scare the crow and help the cow, but failed. The crow was still in back the crow and digging the wound. The cow was moaning and this young man left helpless. In this mean time he missed his cinema because he was late by more than one hour. He though it’s already late and no meaning to go to cinema after one hour, so he went to his room. But his mind was still in that strange painful scene that he saw on his way. His heart was heavy and slept thinking about the scene.

Suddenly he saw a very bright light; it was so bright and never experienced before. And he heard a loud voice calling “My Child”. He thought it was his parents calling and tried to see them but due to bright light he could not open his eyes. He also could not recognize the voice; it was loud but sweat and clear. Again he heard the voice saying, “My child why are you hurting me as a crow”. He could not understand and thought “I never hurt anyone… And I’m not a crow…Why this voice is blaming me and by the by who is this”.

Again he heard, “My child, you forgot me. I am the one who died for you in cross with so much pain and suffering. And do you remember the painful scene you saw on your way. You are the crow digging my wound with your sins".

When they brought Jesus Christ to Golgotha, the soldiers offered Him sour wine to drink, mingled with bitter substances to lessen the suffering. The Lord, when He tasted it, did not wish to drink it. He did not want to lessen the suffering. This suffering, He took upon Himself voluntarily for the sins of all people; thus, he wanted to bear it consciously to the end. He was beaten by Roman soldiers, scourged, stripped and nailed to a cross.

Suddenly the young man woke up and he could control himself, he started crying and repented for his sins.
He remembered his parent’s prayer and their love for him. He whole heartedly repented to God and reached home. His parents welcomed with all joy and love.

Today is never late, repent. Also love your parents.

"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."Acts 3:19

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new."2 Corinthians 5:17

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;Ephesians 6:1-2

“To err is human, to repent divine, to persist devilish” - Benjamin Franklin.

Every Indian should know

Our Indians' Money - 70, 00,000 Crores Rupees in Swiss Bank
1) Yes, 70 lakhs crores rupees of India are lying in Switzerland banks. This is the highest amount lying outside any country, from amongst 180 countries of the world, as if India is the champion of Black Money.
2) German Government has officially written to Indian Government that they (German Government) are willing to inform the details of holders of 70 lakh crore rupees in their Banks, if Indian Government officially asks them.
3) On 22-5-08, this news has already been published in The Times of India and other Newspapers based on German Government's official letter to Indian Government.
4) But the Indian Government has not sent any official enquiry to Germany for details of money which has been sent outside India between 1947 to 2008. The opposition party is also equally not interested in doing so because most of the amount is owned by politicians and it is every Indian's money.
5) This money belongs to our country. From these funds we can repay 13 times of our country's foreign debt. The interest alone can take care of the Centre's yearly budget. People need not pay any taxes and we can pay Rs. 1 lakh to each of 45 crore poor families.
6) Let us imagine, if Swiss Bank is holding Rs. 70 lakh crores, then how much money is lying in other 69 Banks? How much they have deprived the Indian people? Just think, if the Account holder dies, the bank becomes the owner of the funds in his account.
7) Indian people have read and have known about these facts. But the helpless people have neither time nor inclination to do anything in the matter. This is like "a new freedom struggle" and we will have to fight this.
8) This money is the result of our sweat and blood. The wealth generated and earned after putting in lots of mental and physical efforts by Indian people must be brought back to our country.

Good Friday & Happy Easter

Good Friday
Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane by the Temple Guards through the guidance of his disciple, Judas Iscariot.

Jesus carries his cross to the site of execution called the place of the Skull or "Golgotha" in Hebrew and in Latin "Calvary". There he is crucified along with two criminals (John 19:17-22).

Jesus agonizes on the cross for six hours. During his last 3 hours on the cross from noon to 3pm, there is darkness over the whole land. With a loud cry, Jesus gives up his spirit. There is an earthquake, tombs break open, and the curtain in the Temple is torn from top to bottom. The centurion on guard at the site of crucifixion declares, "Truly this was God's Son!" (Matthew 27:45-54)
Let us all honor our Lord, Savior, and King, Jesus the Messiah, for what he did for ALL of us at Calvary. It's easy to forget the sacrifices he made, and the suffering he endured on the cross, just so he could full fill the Old Testament prophecies that he was destined to full fill, and the will of the Father. The words Jesus spoke, as they pounded the nails in his hands and feet on the cross, tell us exactly what he was all about, and these words are in Luke 23:34 "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do."

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever." Hebrews 13:8. His life still gives us hope, May you live in his unchanging love. May Jesus who was born in a manger be born again in your Heart Good Friday!
We love u Jesus because you died in cross for our sins. How great thy Love.

Happy Easter
Easter is a promise God renews to us in each spring. May the promise of Easter fill your heart with peace and joy! Happy Easter!
Thank You, Lord, for rising from the tomb to live in our hearts and you conquered the power of death.
Let’s rejoice he is alive.

BIG trouble boss

Two little boys, ages 8 and 10, are extremely mischievous. They are always getting into trouble and their parents know all about it. If any mischief occurs in their town, the two boys are probably involved. The boys' mother heard that a preacher in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The preacher agreed, but he asked to see them individually.

So the mother sent the 8 year old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the preacher in the afternoon. The preacher, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, "Do you know where God is, son?" The boy's mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there wide-eyed with his mouth hanging open.

So the preacher repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God?!" Again, the boy made no attempt to answer. The preacherraised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, "Where is God?!"

The boy screamed and bolted from the room, ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him. When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, "what happened?" The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time.

GOD is missing, and they think we did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sardar did it again @&%#*@^*

A Gujrati, a Madrasi and a sardar were doing construction work on scaffolding on the 20th floor of a building. They were having lunch and Gujju said, "Dhokla! If I get dhokla one more time for lunch, I'm going to jump off this building."The Madrasi opened his lunch box and exclaimed, "Idli Sambhar again! If I get idli sambhar one more time I'm going to jump off too. "The sardaar opened his lunch and said, "Parontha again! If I get a parontha one more time, I'm jumping too."

The next day, the Gujju opened his lunch box, saw dhokla, and jumped to his death. The Madrasi opened his lunch, saw idli sambhar, and jumped, too.The sardaar opened his lunch, saw the parontha and jumped to his death as well.

At the funeral, Gujju's wife was weeping. She said, "If I'd known how really tired he was of dhokla, I never would have given it to him again!"The Madrasi's wife also wept and said, "I could have given him dossa! I didn't realize he hated idli sambhar so much."Everyone turned and stared at the sardaar's wife.

The sardaar's wife said,"Don't look at me. He makes his own lunch."
