Once there was a young man in a Christian family. His parents were pious and they were regular to church and prayers. This young man was always mischief and trouble maker right from his small age. His parents felt very hard to make him straight. He was irregular to school, church and his Sunday class. His parents always receive complaints about their ward in schools and it continued to his college days as well. With so many failures to make their son straight, their only hope was Jesus. They cried, prayed and prayed.
As getting older this boy completed his college studies and got a job by the grace of God and prayers. But he never realized it’s by HIS grace he is alive and got a job. He always boasts only by his own talent and knowledge he got the job. Now he got a job and he has his own money and felt his only hindrance for his joy is parents. So he decided to move away from his parents and said to them that he can stand in his own leg.
He wanted to enjoy life with his money. His parents could do nothing and all their efforts to stop him going away from home went in vain. His parents just made a small prayer that “Oh! Lord please forgive him and please take care of him. Give him one more chance to come back. We have tried all our ways to make him straight but we failed. Now we give him in thy hands oh lord, please change him and bring him back to us. Amen”.
Now this young man is independent, with job and with an attractive salary. He started enjoying this life and filled him with all sorts of worldly lust and joy. He roam with his friends and come late night to his place. He never missed any weekend party and so on. His life was totally away from the God and even stopped speaking with his parents. He had all strange love and missed his true and eternal love.
One day he and his friends decided to go for a movie. They booked their movie tickets online and planned accordingly. This young man got ready and left his room. Since the cinema theatre was near his room, he decided to go by walk. On his way to cinemas, he saw a strange thing. He saw a cow with a wound in its back and there was a crow sitting back of the cow and poking the wound. The cow tried very hard by shaking its body and by moving its tail to get rid of this crow, but it made no difference to crow. It was still in the back of cow and poking. This young also did some efforts to scare the crow and help the cow, but failed. The crow was still in back the crow and digging the wound. The cow was moaning and this young man left helpless. In this mean time he missed his cinema because he was late by more than one hour. He though it’s already late and no meaning to go to cinema after one hour, so he went to his room. But his mind was still in that strange painful scene that he saw on his way. His heart was heavy and slept thinking about the scene.
Suddenly he saw a very bright light; it was so bright and never experienced before. And he heard a loud voice calling “My Child”. He thought it was his parents calling and tried to see them but due to bright light he could not open his eyes. He also could not recognize the voice; it was loud but sweat and clear. Again he heard the voice saying, “My child why are you hurting me as a crow”. He could not understand and thought “I never hurt anyone… And I’m not a crow…Why this voice is blaming me and by the by who is this”.
Again he heard, “My child, you forgot me. I am the one who died for you in cross with so much pain and suffering. And do you remember the painful scene you saw on your way. You are the crow digging my wound with your sins".
When they brought Jesus Christ to Golgotha, the soldiers offered Him sour wine to drink, mingled with bitter substances to lessen the suffering. The Lord, when He tasted it, did not wish to drink it. He did not want to lessen the suffering. This suffering, He took upon Himself voluntarily for the sins of all people; thus, he wanted to bear it consciously to the end. He was beaten by Roman soldiers, scourged, stripped and nailed to a cross.
Suddenly the young man woke up and he could control himself, he started crying and repented for his sins.
He remembered his parent’s prayer and their love for him. He whole heartedly repented to God and reached home. His parents welcomed with all joy and love.Today is never late, repent. Also love your parents.
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."Acts 3:19
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new."2 Corinthians 5:17
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;Ephesians 6:1-2
“To err is human, to repent divine, to persist devilish” - Benjamin Franklin.
